Senior Frontend Engineer – OneWeb Foundation
We are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to temporarily backfill a key role in the OneWeb Foundation team until the end of the year.
This role requires prior experience within ING’s Omnichannel web environment, allowing for fast onboarding and immediate contribution. You will work on maintaining and evolving shared frontend capabilities, supporting multiple product teams, and improving engineering quality and practices.
In addition to core platform work, this role will contribute to:

The team
You will work in a central web engineering team that supports multiple product and feature teams across the organisation.
The team focuses on:
•
• shared frontend foundations and libraries
• enabling teams to deliver efficiently and safely
• improving performance, quality and developer experience
You’ll collaborate with engineers, architects, designers and stakeholders, and help ensure consistent, high quality frontend delivery across teams.
Roles and responsibilities
Your primary responsibility is to ensure the stability, quality and continuous improvement of the OneWeb frontend foundation.
This includes:
Frontend platform & enablement
•
• Maintain and improve shared frontend platform capabilities used by multiple product teams.
• Support teams with adoption, upgrades and migrations of frontend solutions.
• Help evolve layout, theming and configuration capabilities at application level.
• Act as a technical point of contact for frontend related questions and issues.
Quality, performance & reliability
•
• Contribute to improving frontend performance, stability and observability.
• Support improvements in logging, monitoring and issue diagnostics.
• Identify and resolve recurring frontend quality issues impacting multiple teams.
Test automation & engineering excellence
•
• Improve and expand regression test automation using Playwright.
• Help define best practices for frontend test stability, coverage and maintainability.
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines related to frontend testing and quality gates.
AI Enablement (Key Added Focus)
•
• Actively integrate AI tools into daily engineering workflows (e.g. coding, testing, refactoring, analysis).
• Promote and help other teams adopt AI assisted development practices in a safe and responsible way.
• Experiment with AI use cases that improve productivity, quality and developer experience.
Team & Platform Enablement
•
• Act as a knowledge multiplier for OneWeb and Omnichannel practices.
• Support field work to identify platform pain points and improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and productive engineering culture.

• Previous experience working within ING’s Omnichannel / web frontend environment (to allow fast onboarding).
• 5+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend engineering.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining shared frontend libraries or platforms.
• Practical experience using AI tools in software development.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of modern frontend architectures and concepts.
• Experience with modern frameworks such as Lit, React, Vue, Angular or similar.
• Good understanding of web accessibility and performance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and complex Git workflows.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.

• 5+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend engineering.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining shared frontend libraries or platforms (builds platform, not just features).
• Practical experience using AI tools in software development (Github, Copilot).
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript (solving complex problems).
• Solid understanding of modern frontend architectures and concepts.
• Experience with modern frameworks such as Lit, React, Vue, Angular or similar.
• Good understanding of web accessibility and performance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and complex Git workflows – 3 years experience with Azure DevOps.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).
• Strong English skills.
